AXPONA 2018 Setup Day

Boxes, crates and cables were everywhere as exhibitors hurried to get their rooms in order so that their equipment could have the maximum amount of time for break in. The Legacy Audio team is hard at work here.

There was a steady flow all day of people picking up exhibitor and press badges. I was very impressed by how well all of the logistics were handled by the event staff.

The first thing I saw when coming back from breakfast this morning was the Clearaudio turntable display that I first saw at last year’s Rocky Mountain Audio Fest. It’s not quite as impactful here against the solid white wall, but this picture doesn’t show the final display as it was still being put together. Incidentally, breakfast was at Le Peep, which was wonderful. Look it up if you live in the Chicago area.

Here is a Clearaudio Black Concept turntable being set up. It’s just like the one I have in house to review for the first part of the “Affordable Vinyl Series.” The introduction to that series is available here.

Here’s Mike Fajen of Musical Surroundings setting up my favorite turntables, the AMG Giro Turntable with the AMG nine-inch tonearm.

The McIntosh static display outside of their room looked really nice. The door to their room was closed when we were there.

Without a doubt, these crates that are full of Wynn Audio’s acoustic panels deserve the award for the largest crates at AX{PONA!

Look, even on the day before the show, I found LPs to thumb through. It looked like there are going to be lots of LPs I can be tempted to buy here. Here, I’m looking at Music Direct’s stock.

u-turn audio had their display in the Expo Hall up and going. Their Orbit Basic set up is an affordable place to start with vinyl.

It also looked like there will be lots and lots of headphones here in the Expo Hall. Becky is talking to a couple of manufacturers tomorrow. We fully intend to bring you more headphone reviews. Here’s the Pioneer display.

A very familiar sight as I recently set up a TriangleArt Maestro Turntable in my system to review. The amps are also beautiful.

I’ll close out this pre-show report with this picture. No, I don’t know what it is, but it was really interesting so I’ll let you know when I find out.

Keep on Boppin’, and we will report back tomorrow night with pictures from Day One of AXPONA.
