Fun Weekend with a Few New Toys!

For reasons I’ll get into at another time I have been experimenting with a different record clamp or two with my AMG Turntable. The AMG uses a true reflex style, anodized aluminum with an inverted threaded attachment to decouple the spindle. To use other record stabilizers you need to remove the small riser that is around the spindle. After that you can use any record stabilizer. So far I have liked the “HRS Heavy Weight”.

Then my mind turned to a couple of products from Audio Replas I reviewed back in 2009; the HR Turntable Mat and the HR Record Stabilizer. They are made fro a super-purity silica glass made from a special man-made quartz that has Audio Replas’ HR treatment.

2So I called Joe Cohen of the Lotus Group the importer of Audio Replas to America. I ask him if he had them in stock and I was lucky and Joe was nice enough to bring them by on his way to one of his dealers near my place.

Joe is also the importer of Audio Revives so while I was on the phone I asked him if he had a review sample of their RR-888 Ultra Low Frequency Generator. I know I’m coming late to the game on this type of device, but I’ve never gotten around to listening to one in my room. So Joe was nice enough to bring a RR-888 with him also.

It has been a fun weekend listening to how these three devices effect the sound of my system. It’s way to early to give any final evaluations. It seems that the two Audio Replas devices may take the AMG to a whole new level, but I like I said, it’s way to early to say for sure. Stay tuned and thank your for stopping by.
