LA Audio Show Day Two, Part 1

Day 2 for the LA Audio Show dawned with a lot of fog and humidity, but inside the Sheraton Gateway Hotel, the weather outside was barely noticeable. Here’s the first set of pictures from my morning.

I mentioned in the day one picture that the Spatial Red Wine room was one of the two best that I heard that day. I found the room hard to photograph because of the lighting, but here’s the best I could do. The quality of my picture doesn’t do justice to the quality of the sound.

The Rethm room was sounding good with its brand new entry-level speaker, Bhaava (The Emotion).

The Magico S3 MK2 sounds superb, I have found the S series to be excellent every time I hear them.

Jeff at High Water Sound usually has one of the best, if not the best room at any show. That has not changed, but this time he has done it with equipment that is more reasonable in both size and price. The speakers were a new model from Horning being driven by Arte Forte Audio tube electronics.

The Prana Fidelity speakers had the most interesting speaker stands I’ve seen.

The German Physiks and Merril Audio amps have to be a contender for the best sound of the day.

The Zesto Audio electronics made great music over the Marten speakers

Upscale Audio was playing PrimaLuna tubes driving Focal speakers.

Most of my long-time readers know that Wilsons aren’t my favorite speakers. It’s not that they aren’t great, it’s just that they have a different presentation than I prefer. Still, this room with VTL electronics, an AMG turntable, and a Benz cartridge sounded better than any other room at the show with Wilson speakers.

The Boulder and Wilson room just wasn’t clicking when I went by today.

Day 2, Part 2 will be up later tonight.
