This past weekend, September 27 – 29, AudioVision SF celebrated its 20th anniversary. As we wrote about in our feature story on this store a couple of months ago, this is an accomplishment, especially in a city where having a physical storefront is so expensive. We have been looking forward to the AudioVison SF anniversary for a while, and we were not disappointed.
It was quite a celebration! In fact, owners Antonio Long and Randolph Johnson put on the biggest audio event I’ve ever seen from a retailer. It was a smaller version of an audio show, and there were even a number of products that were new or at least new to the west coast. Unlike an audio show, however, you can plan still plan a visit to the store and get to hear some of this really world-class new gear.
Antonio Long (left) kicked off the celebration with a champagne toast on Friday night. The AVSF team, pictured above from left to right included Antonio, Taylor Deaton, former long-time employee Marlon Kirby, and Randolph Johnson. On Friday night, the store was absolutely packed.
The Dynaudio Confidence C30 loudspeakers made their west coast debut at this event. Their first appearance was at RMAF.
It was so good to see Mike Manousselis of Dynaudio. He did a great job of explaining what makes the C30 a brand new and much better speaker. It sure sounded good in this great system.
The 860Av2 Power Amplifier from Simaudio Moon also debuted at last month’s RMAF and was making its west coast debut. Sources were the Innuos Statement music server and the Rega Planar 10 turntable. Cables and power products from Nordost completed the system.
In total, there were 19 reps covering 21 vendors with everything from racks to cables to headphones and servers at the AudioVision SF anniversary. Pictured here are Costa Koulisakis (left) of Simaudio Moon and Mark Sossa representing Innuos. We didn’t get pictures of Steve Green of Nordost, Chris Koster of Rega, but they certainly did a good job presenting their products.
The crowd was great Friday night and most stayed until almost 11 P.M. listening to music and visiting. What a great kick-off to the weekend celebration!
