GTT Audio & Video teamed with YG Acoustics for this year’s Captial Audiofest. GTT is a dealer located in rural New Jersey about 45 minutes from New York City. So, yes, this is an East coast exhibitor that we don’t get to see very often, and there were at least a couple of reasons why we were glad to spend some time in their room.
The first reason was that they were using the YG Acoustics Carmel 2 speakers. I’m sure it has to do with hotel rooms, but at shows, I’ve always preferred the smaller YG Acoustics speakers. The Carmel 2 speakers were big enough to sound great in this room but not so large as to be overpowering.
The second reason we wanted to spend some time here was to hear the new Audionet Humboldt Integrated amplifier, which made its world premiere here. This amp combined with these speakers created a soundstage that was big, tall and believable. It absolutely defied the size of these speakers. The bass and top-end were exceptional.
Of course, every component in the room plays its part to deliver that special something we are all looking for when we walk in and sit down. In this room, the turntable was the Kronos Sparta with the new power supply, the DAC was the Mola Mola Tambaqui and all of the cables were from Kubala-Sosna.
And now I can hardly wait! We toured the YG factory shortly after we started The Audio Beatnik and wrote about it here, but I’ve never reviewed a pair of their speakers. Before too long, I should have a pair of YG speakers in my house for review.
