California Audio Show – Day 1 Pictures

The California Audio Show got off to a good start today; far and away the best thing about the day was visiting with Lyn Stanley and hearing the metal lacquer of her upcoming album “The Moonlight Sessions: Volume Two.”

Kevin Hayes of VAC and Lyn Stanley having fun just after she told a room full of listeners that this system sounded just perfect!

This is the same VAC/Von Schweikert system I loved so much at the LA Audio Show, and it may have sounded even better today. Maybe it was the Lyn Stanley lacquer of her new album. I’ll be back to listen some more tomorrow.

Everything was coming together in the Burwell & Sons/Rogers room

Genesis Loudspeakers with Viva Acoustic amps

I love this picture of the Volti Audio Rival speaker. The sign says it all! By the way, I love the looks of these speakers with the grills on, and they sounded great with the grills on.

What do most audiophiles think when they walk into a room with no room treatment and nothing but two very small floor standing speakers? I’m afraid we don’t expect much, especially if the only source is an OPPO 105D Blu-ray player. If you fall into this category, you would be dead wrong. This 25-watt per channel Class A amp from Pass Labs and these little Vienna Acoustic speakers sounded great!

Napa Acoustics of Fremont, California always has some of the most interesting and affordable lifestyle systems. These paintings, which can hang on the wall, are their newest speakers.

Nick Gowan of True Sound in Campbell, California was at the show to represent Audio Note UK. Two of the best system at the show had Audio Note UK amplification. Except for the reel-to-reel, this is a complete Audio Note system, and it sounded so, so good!

The Audio Federation room featured top-of-the-line Audio Note electronics with Acapella’s High Cellini speakers. This has to be a contender for the best sound at the show.

Show after show, Fritz has some of the best sound for the money. This year he was paired up with WyWires, Channel D, Parasound and a nice vintage Denon turntable.

I’ll wrap up day one with the Eficion room. These were some very nice sounding speakers.
