Florida Audio Expo: AGD and Ocean Way

AGD and Ocean Way system

This was one of my favorite rooms in Tampa, and I wasn’t surprised. I visited the AGD Productions and Ocean Way Audio room at AXPONA 2019, and ever since then, I have looked forward to hearing their room at another show. So, I walked into their room at the Florida Audio Expo with great anticipation, and I was not disappointed.

In their room, the Ocean Way Eureka speakers ($14,800 w/stands), were center stage. Beautiful, floor-standing speakers, these are also the first non-horn speakers from Ocean Way. And yes, they had that clean, wide-bandwidth sound that Alan Sides’ speakers are known for. Don’t let the picture above fool you, while these are smaller floor-standers, they aren’t lightweights.

Amplification and Source

For this show, AGD designer Alberto Guerra decided to pair his new Adante preamp/DAC/Streamer ($12,000 in chrome) and his Audion monoblock amps ( $7,500.00) with the Ocean Way Eureka speakers.

Also shown in the display were the AGD Vivace monoblocks ($15,000) that deliver 200w in 4ohms and 100w into 8. These are class D and use Gallium Nitride power MOSFET components in a vacuum tube container.

Take my word for it, you don’t want to miss this room if you see it listed at the next show you attend. Who knows, you may find me in there listening and smiling.
