Florida Audio Expo: High End by OZ

It was a pleasure to walk into this room at the Florida Audio Expo and think, “Hey, I’ve been here before.” This was especially true for the High End by OZ room as my memory of how good their system was at RMAF made it high on my list to visit in Tampa, and the systems for the two shows were almost identical.

And, aside from the system, I always enjoy visiting with Ozan Turan, the owner of High End by OZ, and the distributor for the products in this room. AudioSolutions and Vitus Audio were the anchors for the system. While their system in Tampa was slightly different from the one at RMAF, I was not disappointed.

The System

For the Florida Audio Expo, the High End by OZ system included the slightly smaller AudioSolutions Virtuoso S Speakers ($22,500/pr) instead of the ones they had at RMAF, the AudioSolutions Virtuoso Ms ($32,000/pr). The rest of the system was identical to what they had at RMAF, the Vitus Audio SIA-030 integrated amplifier ($40,000) along with the SCD-25 MK II CD Player. Also on hand was the Aurender W20SE Music Server ($22,000). All of this was connected with Synergistic Audio Galileo Cables.

The 3-way Virtuoso S speakers have a 5.2″ pulp-cone midrange which resides above the 1.18″ soft dome tweeter. Two 6.5″ pulp cone woofers are below this. A knob on the rear of the speaker has three settings that can be used to make some adjustments for room acoustics or listener taste. The settings are labeled Balanced, Moderate, or Enhanced.

The Sound

The Vitus Audio SIA-030 integrated amplifier was undoubtedly a significant contributor to the excellent sound in this room. This amplifier from Denmark produces 30 Class A watts and 100 Class A/B, and it offers optional modules for streaming or phono.

The sound was an excellent balance of openness and detail that was quite involving. It produced a very good soundstage and coherent sound. The effortless dynamics got my attention and got my foot to tapping.

As I mentioned earlier, this is the second show that these brands have gotten my attention and if you get a chance to hear them I suspect they will get your attention also.
